Het Veem

Built during World War II, the Veemgebouw was formerly used as a Philips warehouse. Trudo acquired the building in 2009 and decided to redevelop it. Because the Veem is less suitable for housing due to its low floor heights and small windows, Trudo opted for a very mixed alternative interpretation.

On the ground floor of the Veem you will find a supermarket, restaurant, several specialty shops and a beer brewery. Before that is a parking garage, a VR experience centre and several floors used for pop-up exhibitions during, for example, Dutch Design Week (DDW). On top of the Veem, Trudo had three additional layers built in 2021. Here you will now find 39 homes and various business spaces surrounding a green courtyard. The design of the topping comes from London architect Caruso St. John.
