Station Strijp-S
In December of 2015, the Eindhoven municipality changed the name of NS station Eindhoven Beukenlaan to Eindhoven Strijp-S, which it feels captures the imagination more than Beukenlaan. With this name change, the station is now wholly in alignment with its location.
Significant updates in the spring of 2014 transformed the previously grey, concrete train station into a hip, modern one. Safety improvements (better lighting, windproof billboards, seating areas on the platforms and impressive graphics, designed by young Eindhoven designers Berry Sanders and Bram Tuns, on the tunnel walls) were also made.
The municipality made these improvements in cooperation with ProRail and NS. On top of these visually-appealing and safety-enhancing measures, making the station a more pleasant place to be at, lifts were introduced to the station in 2018, improving its accessibility for people with visual impairments or mobility problems, parents with prams and travellers with heavy luggage.
