The hospitality scene in the Donna building at Strijp-S is getting a big boost. On Thursday, August 28, pizzeria Hout officially opened its doors there, following a relocation and major renovation. Not long after, the second newcomer arrived: the nationwide chain Anne & Max.
Pizzeria Hout back on familiar ground
Hout already has a history in Eindhoven: first on the Leenderweg, later for two and a half years in the SX building on Torenallee. In the meantime, the pizzeria has become a well-known name in the world of Neapolitan pizza. This year, Hout secured a place in the Dutch top 5 of Excellent Pizzerias for the second time—an honorable mention within the European ranking 50 Top Pizza.
For co-owner Jurgen Slaats, the reopening immediately felt right: “It’s always exciting to start over, but from the very first moment it felt like coming home. We’ve received an incredible amount of positive feedback, and the team was ready to go right away.”
Slaats and fellow co-owner Chris Hoekstra emphasize that their success stems from daily dedication to the authentic Italian way of preparation. They share this passion with Nicky and Derk van Westenbrugge, who, besides Hout, also run Thym (in Hotel Parkzicht) and Casa de Pepe on the Leenderweg.

Anne & Max expands to Strijp-S
Hout isn’t the only one choosing Donna. On September 4, Anne & Max opens a second Eindhoven location there. The brand is known for breakfast, lunch, coffee, and drinks, and has already built a loyal following at its Kleine Berg café.
With Anne & Max, Strijp-S gains a new spot where you can stop by from early morning until late afternoon. Opening hours vary slightly by day.
